LIP BLUSH

THE LIP BLUSH TECHNIQUE

Lip blush is a form of permanent makeup that applies colour into the upper dermal layer of the skin where it will remain for a number of years. This treatment is ideal if you are looking to:

  • Increase the volume of your lips naturally.

  • Even out the symmetry of your lips.

  • Create a beautiful colour 24/7.

  • Define your cupids bow.

  • Colour correction/neutralising for uneven pigmentation and scars.

  • Increased pigmentation for aging, receding and pale lips.

PRE-TREATMENT ADVICE

AVOID any tea, coffee, energy drinks, herbal tea or alcohol for 24 hours before your treatment.

NO aspirin, fish oil, ibuprofen, vitamin E, or codeine, 48 hours before. (Paracetamol is fine).

Do not have a tan/sunburn on your face on the day of your treatment. NO SUN for 14 days prior and post-treatment (re-touch also).

No lip filler for 6 weeks before/after permanent makeup. Unless you are intending to keep up with filler, I recommend having permanent makeup first.

Avoid working out or any activities that will make you sweat on the day of your procedure.

You must have stopped taking acne medication or blood thinners for one year - No exceptions.

Gently exfoliate your lips at least 3 days before your appointment. I recommend mixing 1 tsp of sugar with 1 tsp of coconut oil.

Smoking will cause the pigment to prematurely fade

No top lip waxing for 1 week prior to the procedure and for 4 weeks after.

If you have EVER had a breakout of coldsores you will carry the herpes simplex virus, having lip blush may awaken an outbreak of coldsores. It is HIGHLY recommended to take an anti-viral medication 5 days before, then 5 days after a treatment or as advised by your doctor.

AFTERCARE ADVICE

For the first 7 days or until lips begin to flake, you can gently cleanse your enhancement with damp, flat cotton pads morning and night and pat dry with kitchen tissue. I also recommend applying balm to your lips regularly throughout the day. (Please wash your hands before touching your enhancement).

*If you notice a tingling sensation after 3 days apply the medication as suggested above as this is an indication that a breakout is about to occur*.

Some itching is normal, please do not scratch, pick or peel off the flakes to prevent colour loss, scaring and/or infection.

During the healing process the colour will fade significantly and may not push back through until after 6 weeks. It’s important to continue keeping your lips moist with the balm until flaking occurs to get the best colour at the end of the healing process.

Avoid using cleansers, creams, makeup, or any other products on the treated area. No botox/fillers/skin peels/resurfacing treatments for 4 weeks after the top up.

No bleaching, laser hair removal, waxing or electrolysis on areas near the enhancement for 14 days.

LIP FILLERS

It is better to have lip blush done before lip filler because then I am working with the natural shape and contour of your lips and your injector will see where to add the volume. If you already have filler that’s fine, however if it has migrated or been done poorly I will recommend that you have it dissolved before having lip blush. Do not have any lip fillers 6 weeks prior and 6 weeks post lip blush. This could change the shape of your lips and affect the shape the lips will be really sensitive while healing so it’s important to wait.

HOW LONG WILL MY LIP BLUSH LAST?

Lip blush lasts around 2-3 years before a colour boost is required but it depends on your skin type, lifestyle and medical history.
