Eligibility & Pre-Care Guidelines For Permanent Make-up

Before committing to a permanent makeup treatment, it’s essential to understand whether you are a suitable candidate and how to best prepare your skin for a procedure. These treatments involve working with your skin’s natural healing process and cutting corners can directly impact your results.

These policies are in place to ensure your safety and the best possible result. If you don’t follow the guidance, service will be refused.

✅ WHO IS SUITABLE?

You may NOT have this procedure if any of the following apply:

  • You are under 18 years old (I prefer my clients to be 25+).

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • You’ve taken Accutane or any acne medication in the last 12 months.

  • You are undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy.

  • You have HIV, hepatitis, or any infectious/viral disease.

  • You are on blood-thinning medication, or any medication that affects clotting/healing.

  • You have Type 1 or 2 diabetes.

  • You’ve had previous brow tattooing within the last year, or the pigment has not faded enough for a safe cover-up.

*If you have any medical conditions, allergies, disorders, or take any medication, this must be disclosed when you enquire.*

☕ IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT CAFFEINE

If you consume caffeine within 24 hours of your appointment, your skin is more likely to bleed and this will push the pigment out, leaving you with poor retention and patchy results.

This one gets questioned a lot, so to be clear, even one sip of tea or coffee can thin your blood.

🕒 PRE-TREATMENT ADVICE (ALL CLIENTS)

Please follow the instructions below before every procedure:

  • No caffeine, tea, coffee, herbal teas, energy drinks, or alcohol for 24 hours before treatment.

  • No aspirin, ibuprofen, codeine, fish oil, or vitamin E for 48 hours before (Paracetamol is fine).

  • Protect your skin from UV exposure (sun/sun beds) for 14 days before/after.

  • No facials, chemical peels, resurfacing, exfoliants, or retinol for 4 weeks before or after.

  • No Botox 4 weeks before or after treatment.

  • Avoid working out or sweating on the day of your appointment.

  • You must have stopped taking blood thinners or acne medication for at least 1 year - no exceptions.

  • Smoking may cause premature fading of pigment.

👁 BROW-SPECIFIC PREP

  • No brow tinting for 1 week before and for 4 weeks after.

  • No waxing or threading for 4 weeks before/after.

💋 LIP-SPECIFIC PREP

  • Gently exfoliate your lips 3 days before using a sugar + oil mix (e.g. sugar & coconut oil)

  • No top lip waxing or electrolysis for 1 week before and 4 weeks after

  • If you’ve ever had cold sores, you carry the herpes virus. Lip tattooing can trigger an outbreak. To prevent this, it is strongly advised to take an antiviral (such as Aciclovir) starting 5 days before and continuing 5 days after the treatment or as prescribed by your GP.
